Culinary Classes

kitchen_03.jpgIn the award-winning Winterlake Lodge kitchen we offer daily cooking classes for all ages. At Redoubt Bay Lodge, our kitchen is small and open to the diners in the main lodge. You are welcome to sit at the counter and watch your chef prepare your dinner. At Tutka Bay Lodge, we specialize in the seafood cuisine of Kachemak Bay.

Winter Culinary Class Schedule

In the winter at Winterlake Lodge, we offer specialty culinary weekends. Here’s our 2010 winter and spring schedule.

Jan 29-31 - The Winter Kitchen
Join Chef Kirsten Dixon in the Winterlake kitchen to learn about the slow braised cuisine of the Alaskan backcountry. Depart Anchorage Friday afternoon. Activities at the lodge include dog mushing, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, wine tasting, yoga, complimentary massage, cooking classes each day. Return to Anchorage Sunday afternoon. All-inclusive package includes roundtrip airfare, lodging, meals, guiding, instruction, most wines.

Feb 12-14 - Gung How Fat Chow (Happy Chinese New Year)
Join Chef Kirsten Dixon in the Winterlake Lodge kitchen for a weekend of exploring the cuisine of Chinese New Year (including making Chinese long noodles). Our pastry chef Mandy teaches us her favorite valentine’s dessert.  Depart Anchorage Friday afternoon. Activities at the lodge include dog mushing, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, wine tasting, yoga, complimentary massage, cooking classes each day. Return to Anchorage Sunday afternoon. March 12 -14 Catalan cuisine
Join Chefs Kirsten Dixon and Mandy Dixon in the Winterlake Lodge kitchen to learn about cheeses, wines and savory dishes from Spain. Depart Anchorage Friday afternoon. Activities at the lodge include dog mushing, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, wine tasting, yoga, complimentary massage, cooking classes each day. Return to Anchorage Sunday afternoon. April 30-May 2 - What we learned in Morocco
Join Chef Kirsten Dixon and her daughter Mandy in the Tutka Bay Lodge kitchen to learn about their recent culinary journey to Morocco. Activities at the lodge include ski kayaking, hiking, bird watching and bay cruising, wine tasting, yoga, complimentary massage, cooking classes each day. Return to Anchorage Sunday afternoon. All-inclusive package includes water taxi, lodging, meals, guiding, instruction, most wines.

May 38 to May 30 -  Join Chef Kirsten Dixon and theTutka Bay Lodge chefs in the kitchen to learn about the remarkable cuisine of Kachemak Bay.
